Arsene Wenger praises Manchester United duo after dramatic Champions League win over Atalanta

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo took the headlines with his winner as Manchester United beat Atalanta 3-2 after a dramatic comeback in the UEFA Champions League.  Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who enjoyed many battles with Sir Alex Ferguson down the years, assessed our performance against the Serie A side for beIN Sports. The talismanic Portuguese star headed home nine minutes from time – give the Reds a 3-2 victory after earlier goals from Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire to make a comeback possible. Rashford was a starter for the first time since his recovery from shoulder surgery and it was clear to see his impact throughout the match as United create countless chances on the night. The midfield combination of Scott McTominay and Fred was a source of frustration again for Paul Scholes, who gave his verdict to BT Sport during the match, but Wenger believes the Brazilian ace gave United a platform to spark up the important win. Wenger told beIN Sports (via Manchester Evening New...

Full video Chelsea vs arsenal highlights 2-0    the game was the support from the fans, and possibly the return to action of Aubameyang, who was clearly lacking fitness but put in a shift when called upon on the hour-mark. We have a League Cup match in midweek before we go to Manchester City next weekend, and can hopefully use the West Brom match to build up some confidence

(Video) Lukaku left stunned following wonder save from Arsenal’s Leno August 22, 2021  It should have been three nill to Chelsea – Bern Leno had absolutely no right whatsoever to get a hand to Romelu Lukaku’s thunderous header, and yet, that’s exactly what he did! After opening the game’s scoring early in the first half, the eyes of Chelsea’s new signing would have lit up deep into the game’s second half after he found himself just yards from goal. Heading the ball goalwards, every fan would have been expecting the big Belgian to have doubled his tally – however, Leno had other ideas and pulled off a wonder save. Lukaku’s reaction says it all.

Video: Mason Greenwood scores equaliser v Southampton August 22, 2021   Manchester United are in action again today in their second game of the season after a comprehensive win over Leeds United last week. Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, and Fred ensured that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side got off to the best possible start to the season as they scored five goals in front of a full crowd at Old Trafford. Solskjaer made two changes for the trip to Southampton as Nemanja Matic and Anthony Martial made their first starts of the season.  Southampton were lively from the first minute and took the lead through a deflected strike from Che Adams, leaving David de Gea with no chance.

VIDEO: Romelu Lukaku scores his first premier goal for Chelsea against Arsenal August 22, 2021  Chelsea completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku at the start of this week, and it seemed like today’s game against Arsenal had come too soon. Thomas Tuchel hinted that he wasn’t going to use the striker right away – then picked him to start. Typical managerial misdirection. “We signed him to play” the German coach shrugged when Geoff Shreeves asked him about the big call ahead of kick off. Fair enough. The rest of this team has gelled nicely, so adding one fresh face shouldn’t disrupt things too much.

(Video) Emotional moment as Callum Mason Mount dribbles an Arsenal star With an unbelievable new skill August 24, 2021  After entering the game’s final 20-minutes and with the score all level at 1-1, manager Mikel Arteta would have been hoping to see his side’s defence hold firm. However, after playing a poor back-pass, defender Bellerin allowed Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, who is also being tipped to move on this summer, to have a clear attempt at goal. Slotting the ball past goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Abraham’s second-half goal has ensured the Blues’ have recaptured their lead. However, Arsenal defender makes crucial error to allow Chelsea outcast to gift Blues pre-season lead.

Video: Mason Mount shows Ann astonishing skills as he dribbles an Arsenal star August 23, 2021   Chelsea right wing back Reece James didn’t just setup the opening goal of the game against Arsenal on Sunday, he provided a beautiful finish inside the box to put Chelsea 2-0 up and see them through to the win. His assist saw new boy Romelu Lukaku grab the first goal on his debut back at the club, and James’ overall performance on the afternoon was nothing short of superb. It was his first start under Thomas Tuchel this season due to being out involved with England during pre-season, but it was a great decision to bring him in now and he proved that he is more than ready to pick up where he left off last season and be a colossal player for Tuchel and Chelsea this season.   (Video) Reece James turns scorer following earlier assist as Blues double lead vs. Arsenal August 22, 2021   After setting new signing Romelu Lukaku up for Chelsea’s early opener against rivals Arsenal, right-back Reece James has decided to get amongst the goals himself. Having set up a quickfire attacking move, Thomas Tuchel watched on as his impressive Blues threatened the Gunners’ backline once again. After latching on to a pass from Mason Mount following a step over dummy from Lukaku, James cooly placed the ball beyond goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

VIDEO: The key moment Reece James dribbles pass an Arsenal star With a marvelous skill August 23, 2021  Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-0 yesterday in their own back yard, and there was one moment caught on camera that was simply brilliant. Youngster Reece James got Chelsea’s second goal with a superb finish, and he was captured looking out into the Arsenal fans in the stands after scoring. The pure anger on their faces was a moment to behold and rounded off a great day for Chelsea and James. This came after Romelu Lukaku grabbed the first goal on a perfect second debut back at Chelsea making it a bitter sweet day for us Blues fans.

Video: Angry Arsenal fans throw bottle at Reece James after he scores second Chelsea goal August 22, 2021  Reece James was rampant down the right wing as Chelsea battered Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, and he ended up getting the second goal which really ended the game. Reece loves to get under the skin of opposition fans, and he celebrated right in front of some grumpy Gunners. The wing back had a bottle hurled at him as he celebrated, but the tosser was about as accurate as the Arsenal strikers in recent games, and missed James by some distance. That kind of dangerous action can’t be condoned. You can see two freeze frames of the incident in the image above.

(Video) Romelu Lukaku shows an unbelievable heading skill with a thunderous header August 23, 2021  Didier Drogba’s influence at Chelsea has always gone beyond his goals on the pitch. When he was here the first time – and the second time even more so – his leadership and influence was key. Since leaving again he’s always chiming in with positive messages whenever we do well, and last week we discovered he had been talking to Romelu Lukaku on a regular basis for some time before the forward made his move. Lukaku made his Blues debut yesterday against Arsenal, a typically Drogba-esque showing as he shredded the Gunners, and the King himself commented on Twitter:

Video: The key moment Romelu Lukaku dribbles 4 arsenal stars to give Chelsea a stunning kick August 23, 2021   Jorginho is a “glue guy”, both on and off the pitch. When he’s not stitching together attacking moves from the centre circle, he’s bringing together teammates in the dressing room. His latest Instagram story shows him joking around with new man Romelu Lukaku, impressing viewers with how many languages the striker speaks. It’s clear to see how well Rom is settling back in, especially thanks to friendly colleagues like Jorginho. We can’t wait to see him back on the pitch, but these behind the scenes glimpses are great too. You can see their cute moment in the clip embedded here:

Video: Kai Havertz fires in powerful goal for Chelsea against Arsenal in pre-season friendly ShareBy JOMIC   Kai Havertz has scored a well-taken powerful effort for Chelsea to give the Blues the lead over Arsenal in a friendly at the Emirates Stadium. The Germany international was a key player for Chelsea last season, scoring their winning goal in the Champions League final, and it looks like he’s in good shape ahead of the new campaign as well, based on his performance so far this. Havertz does well to latch onto this through-ball in the video below before firing in to the roof of the net with his weaker right foot, leaving Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno with no chance of stopping it…

Chelsea beat arsenal in a 2-0 match πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

By JOMIC The early surge from Arteta’s side never truly convinced. There were a few promising moments from the hosts, Albert Sambi Lokonga offering a few nice touches in midfield, Emile Smith-Rowe testing Γ‰douard Mendy with a fizzing drive from 20 yards, yet the truth is that Chelsea’s opener was so easy when it arrived in the 15th minute. The boos that greeted the half-time  whistle were entirely predictable, the initial optimism fading away as soon as Chelsea began to press at Arsenal’s defensive vulnerabilities. For all the defiance from Arteta, the attempts to create a siege mentality, the painful truth is that Arsenal’s flimsiness was impossible to disguise. Their bench was littered with deadwood – it is hard to know why players like Sead Kolasinac, Calum Chambers and Mohamed Elneny have not been moved on – and they were inferior in every area of the pitch, their weaknesses with and without the ball all too evident. Everyone saw it coming, a sense of foreboding taking o...
