  Cristiano Ronaldo took the headlines with his winner as Manchester United beat Atalanta 3-2 after a dramatic comeback in the UEFA Champions League.  Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who enjoyed many battles with Sir Alex Ferguson down the years, assessed our performance against the Serie A side for beIN Sports. The talismanic Portuguese star headed home nine minutes from time – give the Reds a 3-2 victory after earlier goals from Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire to make a comeback possible. Rashford was a starter for the first time since his recovery from shoulder surgery and it was clear to see his impact throughout the match as United create countless chances on the night.  Chelsea completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku at the start of this week, and it seemed like today’s game against Arsenal had come too soon.


Thomas Tuchel hinted that he wasn’t going to use the striker right away – then picked him to start. Typical managerial misdirection.


“We signed him to play” the German coach shrugged when Geoff Shreeves asked him about the big call ahead of kick off. Fair enough. The rest of this team has gelled nicely, so adding one fresh face shouldn’t disrupt things too much.

Lionel Messi showed up at the Camp Nou to deliver his farewell, but right from the get-go, it was clear that it was not going to be easy. Before even beginning to speak, Messi started to tear up and could barely speak.
