  Cristiano Ronaldo took the headlines with his winner as Manchester United beat Atalanta 3-2 after a dramatic comeback in the UEFA Champions League.  Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who enjoyed many battles with Sir Alex Ferguson down the years, assessed our performance against the Serie A side for beIN Sports. The talismanic Portuguese star headed home nine minutes from time – give the Reds a 3-2 victory after earlier goals from Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire to make a comeback possible.    In light of a Manuel Lanzini strike, Manchester United fell behind in the first half of their third-round Carabao Cup tie against West Ham.  However, at the midway point of the half, midfielder Jesse Lingard was seen being Hammers’ area in what looked to be a clear penalty claim.  Unfortunately for the Red Devils, referee Jon Moss was having none of it and waved the Englishman’s appeals away. Full video Chelsea vs arsenal highlights 2-0    the game was the support from the fans, and possibly the return to action of Aubameyang, who was clearly lacking fitness but put in a shift when called upon on the hour-mark. We have a League Cup match in midweek before we go to Manchester City next weekend, and can hopefully use the West Brom match to build up some confidence

  (Video) Lukaku left stunned following wonder save from Arsenal’s Leno August 22, 2021  It should have been three nill to Chelsea – Bern Leno had absolutely no right whatsoever to get a hand to Romelu Lukaku’s thunderous header, and yet, that’s exactly what he did! After opening the game’s scoring early in the first half, the eyes of Chelsea’s new signing would have lit up deep into the game’s second half after he found himself just yards from goal. Heading the ball goalwards, every fan would have been expecting the big Belgian to have doubled his tally – however, Leno had other ideas and pulled off a wonder save. Lukaku’s reaction says it all.

  Video: Mason Greenwood scores equaliser v Southampton August 22, 2021   Manchester United are in action again today in their second game of the season after a comprehensive win over Leeds United last week. Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, and Fred ensured that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side got off to the best possible start to the season as they scored five goals in front of a full crowd at Old Trafford. Solskjaer made two changes for the trip to Southampton as Nemanja Matic and Anthony Martial made their first starts of the season.  Southampton were lively from the first minute and took the lead through a deflected strike from Che Adams, leaving David de Gea with no chance.

Typical managerial misdirection. “We signed him to play” the German coach shrugged when Geoff Shreeves asked him about the big call ahead of kick off. Fair enough. The rest of this team has gelled nicely, so adding one fresh face shouldn’t disrupt things too much.
